メルヘン系のファッションに、どこかトゲのある曲など、今まで海外アーティストでは見られなっかた女性シンガー。
個性的でちょっぴりレトロチックのかわいいファッションに、（髪型は頭半分を色分けしている）ヘアメイク！！
ほとんどがゴールドとブラックの2色。コンサートでは他の色を使うことが時々あり。

まるで歌詞を絵本のように表現するのは、子供時代のエピソードやイメージを元に作っています。
思春期ならではの自我や恋愛に関する悩みが、一つに綴りあわされた曲。

曲作りを行う際メラニーは「子供時代」の物事をリストに書き出し、そこに「自分の現在の状況を結び付けていったの」と語ります。

オーディション番組「THE VOICE」（ザ・ヴォイス）に出演し、それがきっかけでレコード事務所と契約して待望のデビュー。
ご存知でしょうかこの番組「THE VOICE」を。「ゴットタレントやXファクター」なら知っているけど「THE VOICE」までは？
それじゃその「ザ・ヴォイス」とは？名前の通り声だけで判断するオーディション番組です。
出場者がステージに上がって歌を審査してもらいます。そしてそれをジャッジする審査員が４人。
その審査員は、現役バリバリのアーティスト。たとえばマルーン５のヴォーカル、アダム・レヴィーン、ジェシイ・ジェイ、クリスティーナ・アレギラなどが審査をします。
その審査の仕方がユニークで、審査員全員が後ろを向いていて容姿は全く分からず。
声だけで審査するオーディション。気に入れば自分の前にあるブザーを押すと、座っていた回転いすが回転。
そして歌っている出場者と、初のご対面となります。
１人でも審査員がブザーを押したらそこで合格となります。
それから選んでもらった審査員（複数いたら）その中から自分の好きなアーティスを選んで、最終までの歌のプロデュースを、してもらい優勝を目指します。
メラニーが選んだのはマルーン５のアダム・レヴィーン。チーム・アダムとしてこれから活動開始。
まあ何となく独特の持っている雰囲気が似ているような感じがする２人。もちろんメラニーの髪はその時から２色のカラー（ゴール/ブラック）です。
優勝は逃したものの、ファイナルまでいったメラニー。
そのユニークなヘアースタイルとハスキーヴォイスが魅力。メディアが注目するのは当然でしょうね！！
